Venezuela: look beyond Chávez

President Hugo Chavez’s illness seems to signal a potential political transition process in Venezuela. While the focus is on the opposition Mesa de la Unidad, this policy brief suggests that the key to understanding Venezuela’s political future lies in the armed forces.
