EU human rights policy towards Russia

Conducted for the European Parliament Sub-Committee on human rights, this study assesses the state of play in EU efforts to advance human rights in Russia based on extensive consultations with Russian civil society groups.
According to the report’s findings, EU-Russia human rights consultations have been ineffective and have indeed coincided with a period of worsening political conditions in Russia. The EU should review its efforts and adopt higher level political pressure and engagement.
