Building a state that works for women: Integrating gender into post-conflict state building
28/03/2011 By Clare Castillejo
This working paper examines the gender implications of state building processes, the role women play in shaping the post conflict state, and the barriers that they face in doing so. It identifies key lessons for donors on how to promote gender equality within the political, institutional and social change processes that follow conflict.
This working paper is based on case studies in Burundi, Guatemala, Kosovo, Sierra Leone and Sudan.
