The EU-Turkmenistan energy relationship: difficulty or opportunity?

This policy briefs seeks to establish how the EU should further its policy towards Turkmenistan and reconcile democratic values with energy interests.This is a challenge for Europe because Turkmenistan is one of the most repressive countries in the world while it also boasts a huge potential in gas reserves that might become increasingly accessible with the construction of the Nabucco pipeline linking the Caspian to Western Europe.
