The development element of the EEAS

FRIDE, ECDPM, DIE and ODI call for endowing the European External Action Service with sufficient power to support the mission of the Development Commissioner, ensuring that development principles inform the programming of aid and empowering the EEAS and the Directorate General for Development so that they have the ability and skill to think strategically about development.

This open letter by the European think tanks’ group is a contribution within the framework of the EEAS, agreed upon by the General Affairs Council. The proposals outlined herein respond to some of the questions regarding the implementation of the new EEAS and the efforts to preserve the development element.
