The EU's rule of law Initiative in Central Asia

La iniciativa para el Estado de Derecho es uno de los tres proyectos regionales de la UE en Asia Central. Fue mencionado por primera vez en el marco de la Estrategia de la UE para Asia Central en 2007, como buque insigne del compromiso que busca vincular prioridades políticas con asistencia material a la región.

La iniciativa está destinada, tanto  por parte de la UE y  como de sus estados miembros, para apoyar el actual proceso de modernización del sector legal. Se enmarca dentro de una más comprensiva estrategia para fomentar y consolidar la estabilidad, la prosperidad y el respeto hacia los derechos humanos en los países de la región.

Este Policy Brief analiza el desarrollo y la implementación de esta iniciativa con especial atención en el proceso de diálogo político y los problemas que han surgido en la coordinación a largo plazo de algunos proyectos gestionados por agencias. Se analiza además las imitaciones normativas del enfoque europeo.
