One year on from the war between Georgia and Russia, FRIDE's Director General Pierre Schori analyses the country's political situation and the repercussions of the visits of the Swedish minister for foreign affairs, Carl Bildt, and the US vice president, Joe Biden.

Schori also recounts his impressions on visiting the country at the end of July this year and of the talks he held with important political leaders. From his perspective, two clouds in particular are hanging over Georgia: Russia and the world financial crisis.
