16/03/2001 By Publicaciones FRIDE
The Fundación para las Relaciones Internacionales y el Diálogo Exterior (FRIDE), as a part of its activities to promote the study of international issues and the reinforcement of democracy, held a round table on the 16th of May in which international experts discussed the North American electoral system and the last presidential election.
This newsletter contains the opinions of some of the experts -Mickey Edwards, Elizabeth A. Sherman, David Pryor, Gary Orren- who participated in the round table on issues such as the reform of the electoral system, the role of women in the political process, or the financing of the electoral campaigns. Lastly we have included an article by William Schneider, a well-known political analyst, on the
2000 presidential election.
