Donor harmonisation and democratisation: are donors fit for politics?

On 23 November 2007, FRIDE staged a seminar in Madrid to debate the results of its research project, "Donor Harmonisation: Between Effectiveness and Democratisation".
The conclusions of the four country case studies were shared, with the help of the national coordinators, with 30 representatives from development agencies, research institutions, civil society and international consultants from different European countries.
The main objective of the debate was to identify politically sensitive strategies that could be employed by donors in an increasingly complex political-institutional environment.
