The External Actors and Cuba after Fidel
01/04/2007 By Susanne Gratius
Although the (transition?) of power from Fidel to Raúl Castro is a matter of fact, in and outside Cuba, the spirit of the "Máximo Líder" is still very present.
Despite of guaranteeing stability for the moment, a collective leadership opens an uncertain horizon on the complex Cuban power structure. With regards to the future of the island, none of the external actors seems to have an answer.
Moreover, the political agendas of the United States, the EU and Latin America are completely different. These diverging views contribute to the maintenance of the current status quo.
