President Morsi’s sudden ouster of the first ranks of Egypt’s ruling military council SCAF seems to have settled the power struggle between the Muslim Brotherhood and the military in the formers’ favour. For the first time an elected government now bears the executive power to establish democratic civilian rule over the military – if it wants to.
