Ashton in the Middle East (Richard Youngs)

The director of FRIDE Richard Youngs, along with the ex-US ambassador David Mack and Mustafa Barghouti of the Palestinian National Initiative, discusses the visit of Catherine Ashton to Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and the Palestinian territories with the aim of encouraging a rapprochement between Arabs and Israelis. He also analyses the way in which current tensions between the United States and Israel could allow the EU to play a more decisive role in the region.
