Carlos Espósito

Professor and researcher

Carlos Espósito is Professor of International Law and International Relations at the Law School of the Universidad Autonóma of Madrid (UAM). He was also Advisor and Deputy Director of the International Law Department, Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (2001-2004).

In 1998, he was Visiting Professor of Law at the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall. He has also lectured in Mexico, El Salvador, Cuba, Argentina, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Italy, Germany, the United States of America and Malaysia. He also teaches at the Spanish Diplomatic School and several post-graduate courses. He was Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law of the UAM (2001).

He was Editor of the Buenos Aires Law School Journal (Lecciones y Ensayos, 1988), and the Revista Española de Derecho Internacional (1991-1998). He created the student edited law review of the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid in 2000. He is one of the founders of the first Spanish electronic journal of international law and international relations: Revista Electrónica de Estudios Internacionales (www.reei.org) and was its Director since its creation in September 2000 until December 2003.

Carlos Espósito holds a J.D. from the University of Buenos Aires (1989), PhD from the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid (1995) and a Certificate from the Centre for Studies and Research of the International Law Academy at The Hague (1997).

He is author of the following books:
