Juan José Escobar Stemmann
Diplomat
Juan José Escobar Stemmann has served in the Spanish Diplomatic Service since 1991. He has been stationed at the Spanish embassies in Bulgaria, Nicaragua and Morocco. In 2000 he returned to Spain as Advisor on Euro-Mediterranean relations at the European Affairs Office, The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Since 2002, Juan José Escobar Stemmann, has been posted as the Deputy Head of Mission at the Spanish Embassy in Amman (Jordan).
In addition to his diplomatic career, he has been professor of the Instituto Gutierrez Mellado, where he for several years taught courses on the Islamic Movements.
Juan José Escobar Stemmann has published numerous articles on the Islamic movements, the democratisation process in the Arab world and on the Euro-Mediterranean relations.
