Ana Echagüe is a senior researcher at FRIDE. Prior to joining FRIDE, she was deputy director at the University of the Middle East Project, Madrid. She has also worked as a financial analyst at Lehman Brothers, London. She has an MA in International Relations from Columbia University, New York, and a BA in International Relations and Art History from Tufts University.

Her research focuses on political reform in the Arab world, democratisation, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf Cooperation Council. Some of her publications include 'Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East and the need for triangulation' (with R. Youngs, International Spectator 45/3, 2010); ‘US policy towards the Middle East and its implications for EU policy’ (FRIDE, March 2010); ‘Terrorists get hold of Yemen’ (El País, 28 January 2010); ‘Saudi Arabia: supply-side reform?’ (FRIDE, July 2009); and ‘Yemen’ in M.
