Martin Doornbos

Professor, Social Studies Institute, The Hague (Netherlands)

Martin Doornbos is also Visiting Professor of Development Studies at Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda. He has extensively researched on state-society dynamics in Africa (especially in the Horn and in Uganda) and India, with a particular focus on the state-identity nexus.

He has written extensively on the politics of resource allocation in a variety of fields. In recent years he has worked on questions of statehood, governance, ethnic conflict and issues of post-conflict reconstruction. He serves on the board of a number of journals and is an Honorary Member of the CERES Research School for Resource Studies for Development in The Netherlands.

His publications include:

"His most recent book is Global Forces and State Restructuring: Dynamics of State Formation and Collapse" (Palgrave/Macmillan, 2006) explores the dynamics of state formation, collapse and restructuring in the contemporary globalizing context.
