Ulrich Speck

Foreign policy analyst

Ulrich Speck is a foreign policy analyst and author currently based in Heidelberg. He edits the Global Europe Morning Brief, a daily newsletter on EU foreign policy (see www.globeurope.com) and writes a monthly foreign policy column for a Swiss newspaper, Neue Zürcher Zeitung. He is also a senior analyst at Wikistrat, a geostrategic analysis firm. He has been EU correspondent for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Brussels, as well as editor-in-chief for the organisation's website. In 2006, he was a fellow at the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies (AICGS) in Washington.

He has a PhD in modern history from the University of Frankfurt am Main. His research interests are German foreign policy, EU foreign policy, EU-South East Asia relations, transatlantic relations, global order. He has co-edited books on the revolution of 1848, on American empire and on modern anti-Semitism. His articles have appeared in major German newspapers and journals, and other media outlets.
