Madeline R. Young

With a Bachelor degree in Social Sciences majoring in Sociology and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Master in International Relations from the Instituto Barcelona de Estudios Internacionales & University Pompeu Fabra, Madeline R. Young focuses her investigations on governance, human development in Sub-Saharan Africa, and international corporate social responsibility.
As a public advocate in the US, she collaborated with government initiatives for
humanitarian aid for the disabled communities in the US and the Caribbean. She
later coordinated international development projects in Kenya, Nigeria, Swaziland,
Libya, and Honduras with Meteo France International. As a research analyst at
Intermon Oxfam, she was responsible for evaluating and publishing bilingual reports on the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Mali, Mauritania, Chad, and Nigeria. In addition, she was a delegate on the UNESCO Committee for Interreligious Dialogue in Catalonia.
In 2009, she conducted two fieldwork projects for FRIDE and in collaboration with
Oxfam International, the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre in Nigeria, and
the Integrated Social Development Centre in Ghana on the synergies between State institutions, the impact of multinational corporations in the extractive industries, and the implication of civil society in the EITI process.
