Lucia Montanaro

Independent consultant

Lucia Montanaro is an independent consultant who specialises in the EU and UN, conflict prevention and peacebuilding, early warning, fragility, governance, statebuilding, development and organised crime. As Peace and Development Advisor for the UN in Mauritania, she harnessed key conflict prevention lessons. Previously Lucia worked as Senior Advisor on EU Affairs for International Alert, managing the Initiative for Peacebuilding (IfP). She has worked as a policy analyst in Central America, Central Asia and the Balkans, and has worked for the European Parliament, the UN, ministries of justice, defence and foreign affairs, NGOs, think tanks and press agencies. She holds a Masters in International Law, an MPhil in International Relations, and is a PhD candidate in Political Science.
