George Gavrilis

Assistant professor of international relations, University of Texas at Austin

George Gavrilis is assistant professor of international relations at the University of Texas at Austin and an International Affairs Fellow (2008-09) of the Council on Foreign Relations.

He authored The Dynamics of Interstate Boundaries (Cambridge University Press, 2008); the book explains how rulers strategically organise border control institutions and why these strategies sometimes enable and other times frustrate the work of local border authorities. His areas of research include state building, institutions, boundaries, and conflict and he has conducted field research in the Middle East, Central and South Asia.
