Fares Braizat
Researcher and expert in Democracy in the Arab World, Strategic Studies Centre, Jordania University, Aman

Dr. Fares A. Braizat is a visiting fellow with the Center for Strategic and International Studies Middle East Program. He is a researcher, pollster and expert on democracy in the Muslim world.
Dr. Braizat received his Ph.D. in politics and government from the University of Kent at Canterbury in 2003 and read for his M.A. in political sociology from the same university. In 1997, he obtained a diploma in human rights and humanitarian law from the University of Lund in Sweden after earning his B.A. in history from the University of Mu’tah in Jordan.
Dr. Braizat coordinates regional survey projects in the Arab world, including the Arab Barometer in five Arab countries and the Arab Reform Initiative. In Jordan, he runs periodic polls on democracy in Jordan designed to measure expectations and evaluations of Jordanian government.
Dr. Braizat has also taught international students at the University of Jordan and has worked as a consultant on several projects, including managing a survey of the education system in Yemen with the World Bank in 2006 and evaluating the judicial system in Jordan with the Ministry of Justice and USAID.
