Martin Cox

Former Associate researcher

Martin Cox is an agricultural technician and anthropologist, his career is based on a thorough understanding of the reality in rural and indigenous Andean region. Since 1990, he lived and managed development projects in indigenous communities in Chile, and other andean countries. From 1998 until 2005, he was responsible for community projects and indigenous relations to the Chiloe Model Forest in Chile, part of the International Model Forest Network, (which originated in Canada and operates in over 40 countries, including Spain), funded by the Global Environment Facility, GEF- UN.

Advisor for indigenous organizations in Ecuador and Canada, due to his involvement in various projects and initiatives, is aware of the Andean indigenous movement. Has been coordinator and facilitator of missions and exchange programs among indigenous leaders from the Andean region (Chile, Ecuador and Bolivia) and Canada. He has been a researcher in projects related to conflicts between indigenous and international companies in Ecuador and Chile.

Martin was an associate researcher for the Foundation for International Relations and Foreign Dialogue, FRIDE, in Madrid, for the project on foreign investment, CSR and international development actors. Also, Martin is culminating a Master´s degree in contemporary Latin American Studies at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, city in which he resides since 2005.
