Cristina Barrios
Researcher

Cristina Barrios is Researcher at FRIDE, Assistant Professor at ESCP Europe Business School and Sciences Po-Paris, and Fellow of the Transatlantic programme at LSE IDEAS. Prior to joining FRIDE, Cristina worked at the Council of Europe, The Carter Center and as a consultant and electoral observer in the DR Congo. Cristina has a PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics (LSE) and an MA in European Studies from Université de Paris 8.
Her research focuses on democracy promotion as an element of European foreign policy and in relation with development policy and conflict resolution. Her publications include ‘EU cooperation with the African Union: problems and potential’ (FRIDE, July 2010) and ‘France in Africa: from paternalism to pragmatism’ (FRIDE, November 2011) as well as numerous papers and articles published by Notre Europe, the European Parliament, Ares, Mediterranean Politics, IDEAS Magazine and European Political Science.
