Cristina Barrios

Cristina Barrios is a PhD candidate in the Department of International Relations at the London School of Economics (LSE), working on democracy promotion as an element of American and European Union foreign policy.
She teaches a seminar on European Union government, politics and public policy at LSE and is a guest lecturer at the Paris business school ESCP-EAP. Some of her research work on democracy promotion has been published by Notre Europe, the European Parliament's DG External Policies and the academic journals Ares and Mediterranean Politics.
In the past, Ms Barrios has worked as intern at the Council of Europe, research assistant at The Carter Center, and electoral observer in the Democratic Republic of Congo; she now continues to participate actively in the Brussels and London think-tank circles and to reach out to field-work (notably in Africa) whenever possible.
