Born in Madrid in 16 August 1944.

As of 23 July 2012, Soledad Becerril Bustamante is the new national Ombudswoman of Spain.

Before her designation, Mrs. Becerril was Member of the Spanish Parliament. She was Deputy member of the Permanent Deputation; Deputy member of the Spanish delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly to the Council of Europe; Deputy member of the Spanish Delegation at the Assembly of the Western European Union; and Deputy member of the Senate Delegation in the Friendship group with the French Senate.

She received the Grand Cross of Carlos III and the Medal of Andalusia 2006, among other accolades.

She is member of the Advisory Committee of FRIDE.
