Juan José Linz

Emeritus Professor, Yale University

BA in Political Science and Law by the Universidad Complutense of Madrid and PhD in Sociology from Columbia University.

Has been Lecturer at Universidad Complutense of Madrid (1947-1960), Columbia University (1960-1968), Yale University (1968 until his retirement), Escuela de Organización Industrial de Madrid (1959), Stanford University (1966), Universidad Autónoma of Madrid (1968) and the European University Institute in Florence (1979).

Max Weber Visiting Professor at the University of Heidelberg (1983), Visiting Professor at the Institut des Sciences Politiques of Paris (1994), Eric Voegling Visiting Professor at the University of Munich (1996) and Georg Simmel Visiting Professor at the Humboldt University of Berlin (1997). Has also been member of the Council for European Studies, Chairman of the World Association of Public Opinion Research (1974-1976), member of the Executive Committee of the International Sociological Association (1974-1982) and Chairman of the Research Committee of ISA and IPSA (1971-1979).

Emeritus Professor at Yale University, Emeritus member of the Scientific Committee of the Centro de Estudios Avanzados en Ciencias Sociales at the Instituto Juan March de Estudios e Investigaciones de Madrid and Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy of London. He is also member of the Advisory Committee of FRIDE.
