Professor of History of Thought and Social and Political Movements at the Faculty of Sociology and Social Sciences of the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, and former Professor of History at Tufts University in Boston.
He has participated in several research projects focused on the history of social movements and Spanish political culture at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century.
Amongst his publications are Identidad heredada y construcción nacional. Algunas propuestas sobre el caso español, del Antiguo Régimen a la Revolución Liberal; History, Politics and Culture, 1875-1936; and Prólogo a Ángel Duarte, la República del emigrante. La cultura política de los españoles en Argentina.
He is member of the Advisory Committee of FRIDE.
