Eduardo Serra
Former Chairman, Real Instituto Elcano de Estudios Internacionales y Estratégicos
BA in Law by the Universidad Complutense of Madrid.
Joined the Spanish Legal State Corps in 1974. Has been Director of the Office of the Minister of Industry and Energy (1977-79) and Secretary-General and member of the Administrative Board of INI (1979-82). In 1982, he was appointed Undersecretary of Defence, and from 1984 until 1987, he was State Secretary of Defence.
He has also been Chairman of Telettra Spain, Cubiertas y MZOV, and Peugeot Talbot Spain (1988-96); and Vice Chairman of the Centre of Foreign Policy Studies (1988), of which he was Chairman from 1993 until 1996.
In 1996, he was appointed Chairman of the Fundación de Ayuda contra la Drogadicción, and in May 1996, Minister of Defence (1996-2000). In 2000, he was appointed Chairman of the Real Patronato del Museo Nacional del Prado.
Currently, he is Chairman of UBS Warburg Spain and member of the Advisory Committee of FRIDE.
