Paulo Botta
Former researcher, FRIDE

Paulo Botta is a researcher at FRIDE. Prior to joining FRIDE, he taught at the Universidad Empresarial Siglo 21 (Cordoba, Argentina) and worked at the Centre for Contemporary Middle Eastern Studies (CEMOC). Paulo studied International Relations at the Catholic University of Cordoba, Argentina and Arabic at the Arabic Language Centre in Cairo, Egypt. He is a PhD candidate at the Ortega y Gasset Institute at the Complutense University of Madrid.
His work focuses on terrorism in the Islamic world. He coordinates the project-consortium Transnational Terrorism, Security and Rule of Law and is also responsible for the newsletter of the project ‘The gap between narratives and practices. Darfur: The responses from the Arab world’. His recent publications include ‘Is there room for a positive change between Europe and Iran?’ (FRIDE, May 2009) and he writes the blog News from Iran (in Spanish).
