Julia Schünemann

Julia Schünemann is an independent consultant and researcher in the field of peace and conflict. Her research focuses on EU external relations, state- and peacebuilding, fragile states, conflict prevention and early warning. Julia has published on Latin America and the Caribbean, in particular on Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras and EU-Latin America relations. Recently she has undertaken a consultancy for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Honduras. Before she worked as a researcher for FRIDE where she also temporarily led a research project on strengthening women’s citizenship in the context of statebuilding in fragile states. Previously she worked as an associate researcher at the Instituto Complutense de Estudios Internacionales (ICEI), Madrid and for the European Commission’s Directorate-General for External Relations. Julia holds a PhD in International Relations from Complutense University Madrid (UCM).
