Velina G. Stoianova
Former researcher, FRIDE

Velina Stoianova holds a BA in Political Science and Public Administration, with a specialisation in International Relations, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She has conducted studies on the analysis and management of armed conflicts in the Balkans, the Middle East and North Africa and has worked as research assistant at the Barcelona-based UNESCO Chair on Peace and Human Rights.
She has also participated in the Tsunami Evaluation Coalition as a team member for the Review of Spanish State Funding for the Tsunami Emergency and Relief Operation and has supported the Donor State Funding Synthesis report. She was part of the original Humanitarian Response Index (HRI) development team and was the researcher in charge of the content development for the HRI 2007 edition.
