Ana Palacio was member of the Spanish Parliament for Toledo for the Popular Parliamentary Group; member of the Foreign Affairs Committee; and Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary European Union Committee.

Former member of the European Parliament in Sessions IV & V. Ana Palacio held the positions of  Chairman of the Judicial Affairs and Internal Market Committee, of the Freedom & Civil Rights Committee, of the Justice and Internal Affairs Committee and of the Presidents Conference of the Commission of the European Parliament.

She is member of the Convention for the Future of Europe and member of the “Praesidium” by designation of the then Spanish Prime Minister, José María Aznar.
