A specialist on the Balkans, her current research focuses on transitions from war to peace, state failure, and post-war state-building.
She has been Senior Fellow at The Brookings Institution in Washington, DC (1990-1999) and at King’s College, London (1999-2000), and Head of the Analysis and Assessment Unit for UNPROFOR in 1994.
Susan L. Woodward has also worked at Yale University, Williams College, Mount Holyoke College, and Northwestern University from 1972-1989.
