Antonio Remiro Brotóns
Professor, International Law and International Relations, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid
PhD in Law from the University of Bologna (1969) and Degree in Law from the Universidad de Murcia (1967).
He is Professor of International Law and International Relations of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid since 1981. Director of the Masters on International Relations (since its creation in 1988) and of the recently created (2001) PhD on International Law and International Relations of the Ortega y Gasset Institute.
He is Member of the Editorial Board of the magazines Política Exterior, and Private Law and Constitution; Member of the Affari Internazionali Institute of Rome; of the Spanish Association of International Law and International Relations Professors; of the International Law Association of Argentina; and is External Advisor for the Kingdom of Spain.
Antonio Remiro has been Professor and Director of the International Public and Private Law Department of the Universidad de Murcia (1975-1981); Director of the International Law and International Relations Department of the Faculty of Law of the UAM (1982-83); and of the Spanish Centre of International Relations (CERI) (1992-99); Dean of the Faculty of Law and Vice-rector of the Academic Ordainment (1980-81) of the Universidad de Murcia; Dean of the Faculty of Law of the UAM (1983-85).
He has been Co Scientific Director of the International Law and International Relations Area of the Judicial Sciences Division of McGraw-Hill Spain(1995-2000); Co-director of the International Books of the UAM (Dykinson, Madrid, 2000); Editorial Advisor and Trustee of the Spanish magazine of International Law (1976-1994); Member of the Editorial Board, editorialist and columnist of the newspaper El Sol (1991-92); and of the Academia Scientarum et Artium Europaea (1994).
He has also been Advisor and Lawyer to the Republic of Nicaragua (1988), the Republic of Argentina (1994), and the Kingdom of Spain (1995-1996); Magistrate of the Tribunal for the Defense of the Competition (1985-1990); Vice-president of the Studies of the Sea Association (1989-1993); Associate of the Hispanic-Portuguese-American Institute of International Law (1997).
