This is the title of the book that will be presented in FRIDE on 20th October at 2pm. The volume is edited by Sven Biscop (Egmont- Royal Institute for International Relations, Belgium) and Jan Joel Andersson (Swedish Institute for International Affairs, Stockholm, Sweden) and explores the EU’s capacity to influence international politics through its new security strategy.

The contributors, closely involved in the early debate leading up to the ESS, assess questions such as how the strategy has shaped EU policy and how it relates to existing policies, but also how it has added value to these policies and whether the strategy’s objectives are sufficient to safeguard EU interests or whether they should be reviewed and added to.
