Description
![]() |
As part of the seminar series "Democratic Ownership and mutual accountability: new challenges for the relations between receiving and donor governments", which took place on 17th-19th June 2008 in Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao, FRIDE held conferences open to the public in the first two cities.
Through these, FRIDE helped to generate debate on the concept of aid effectiveness, which has emerged from proposals for the Accra High Level Forum. and centered on aspects such as:
- Democratic ownership and downwards accountability of partner countries to citizens.
- Changing aid relations and mechanisms for mutual accountability, power in donor - partner country relations and political space for self-determination, as well as donors’ capacity to assess and influence these two dimensions.
This event is related to the FRIDE project on Harmonization and Democratisation.
