As part of the “FRIDE in Casa de Galicia” series of seminars, the round table debate “The Role Of Turkey In Europe” – comprising a panel of experts and approximately 30 academics, governmental representatives, international civil servants and independent experts – offered an analysis that goes beyond the usual discussions over Turkey’s admission to the EU and in so doing addresses the issues of social cohesion, shared values and parallel security interests.
The round table was presided over by FRIDE Director General Pierre Schori and will involve Ingmar Karlsson, Sweden’s General Consul in Istanbul; Nilufer Narli, Chair of the Department of Sociology in Bahçeşehir University, in Istanbul; Luis de Grandes Pascual, Member of the European Parliament; and Sami Faltas, Executive Director of the Centre for European Security Studies (CESS), in the Netherlands.
The activity report is already available.
