As part of our series of seminars “FRIDE in Casa de Galicia” (in which issues important to our work programme are addressed by distinguished academics, experts, civil servants and journalists, in accordance with the Chatham House Rule), the presentation "Tensions and affinities: cultural relations and politics between the USA and Europe in the Bush era”, by André Schiffrin, took place on Tuesday 6 May 2008.
André Schiffrin was, for 30 years, the editorial director of Phanteon Books, which he left in 1990 to set up the independent editorial The New Press. The author of an acclaimed study on the publishing industry "La edición sin editores", which was published in 23 languages, he divides his time between Paris and New York.
