Europe and the Americas: An Atlantic triangle at last?

SEGIB Madrid, Spain 23/03/2010 to 24/03/2010

Description

Diego Hidalgo, President of FRIDE, and Enrique Iglesias, Secretary General of the SEGIB, at the event.

The financial crisis and the profound changes in the global arena demand a new consideration of global positioning and the type of relationship that Latin America, the USA and the EU wish to establish. During the Spanish EU presidency, two EU-ALC-US summits will take place (in May 2010), which will provide a perfect opportunity to redefine interregional relationships between Europe and the Americas.

This seminar aimed to bring together a high-level group of experts and diplomats from Latin America, the United States and Europe in order to analyse the relationship between Europe and the Americas and to formulate concrete proposals of ways to advance together in terms of the global and bi-continental agenda.
