Central America: state, citizens and crime
Antigua, Guatemala 18/02/2010 to 19/02/2010
Description

Europe-Latin American Forum seminar, organised by FRIDE in collaboration with FLACSO-Guatemala
Central America is facing various security and violence threats, which continue to reduce its population’s personal safety and to challenge its states. The latter, as a result of their institutional fragility, are failing to fulfil one of their essential duties; that of providing security and protecting their citizens from internal and external threats. The most worrying of these are international organised crime and petty crime, two phenomena with an ever-increasing connection.
