FRIDE and CEPS launch EUCAM
14/10/2008
On 8 October, the EUCAM monitoring project was officially launched in the European Parliament. Over a 100 politicians, diplomats, civil society leaders and journalists took part in the meeting that welcomed expert contributors from the EU Commission, the Council, the European Parliament and EUCAM experts.

The seminar was hosted by the Socialist Group, in cooperation with the Group of the European People's Party and European Democrats, the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, and the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance of the European Parliament.
For this project, CEPS and FRIDE will monitor EU policy towards Central Asia and help strengthen dialogue between Central Asian and European communities. The seminar was preceded by a two-day working group meeting where EUCAM experts from Central Asian and EU countries established a working programme that includes a series of publications and public events over the coming 18 months.
EUCAM is supported by the Open Society Institute (OSI) and the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with additional support from the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
