Iran, Israel and the US are hiding behind the question of uranium enrichment and the possibility of a nuclear arms build-up to advance their own national interests. However, it is unclear who will actually benefit from such increased tension.On the one hand, Iran defies the international community whilst facing serious economic problems, as a result of both the international sanctions and the regime's corruption. On the other hand, the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for March will witness an interesting battle between the ultraconservative supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, and president Mahmud Ahmadineyad.
